1 Week Left in Chicory: A Colorful Tale Kickstarter Campaign

There’s just over 1 week left in Chicory: A Colorful Tale’s Kickstarter campaign.

Chicory is an exploration/puzzle game from Vancouver-based indie developer Greg Lobanov (@theBanov), who’s previous project Wandersong was nominated for several prestigious inide awards in 2018.

In Chicory: A Colorful Tale, players are Chicory, a cute litle dog wielding a magical paitbrush. Players use the paintbrush to restore colour to a black and white world, it looks like a lovley and creative experience. Chicory meets other characters, learns more about the world and story.

Labanov is working with Canadian indie developer Em Halberstadt (@emaudible), sound designer on Night in the Woods, Wandersong, Untitled Goose Game, Ikenfell, and other indie darlings. Chicory is also being worked on by Vancouver-based artist Alexis Dean-Jones (@musclewing), environment artist Madeline Berger (@fungalmatters) and award-winning composer of Celeste’s OST Lena Raine (@kuraine).

The team explained why they went the Kickstarter route for Chicory: A Colorful Tale on the Kickstarter page:

Talking directly to backers is really energizing for us, and we enjoyed getting to build that relationship over the course of development--it can be hard when you're making a story game, which doesn't otherwise lend itself well to Early Access or extended beta testing. With Chicory, and a larger art team, we're even more excited to collaborate with backers and fill the game up with your ideas and creativity!

The Kickstarter succeeded quite quickly, and is currently at CA$ 89,160 pledged of their CA$ 39,661 goal. Backing at the $18 pledge will get you a digital copy of the game and your name in the credits.
