Eidos-Montréal Still Updating 2020's Marvel's Avengers, Adding The Winter Soldier
Eidos-Montréal’s beleaguered 2020 live-service game Marvel’s Avengers (which is not connected to the MCU or even other Marvel games released since like 2021’s award-winning Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy) is somehow still receiving content updates as of November 2022.
This latest update brings the Winter Soldier hero to the game along with new end-game missions as well as a triple-XP week for the Winter Soldier ending December 15.
Despite only having 300 active Steam players on average over the past 30 days (it’s also available on Xbox and PlayStation) the game has been receiving steady content updates and new characters since launch. They’ve added two different Hawkeyes, Black Panther, Spider-Man (only on PlayStation) and a second Thor since the game launched in September 2020.
Eidos-Montréal developed the game alongside Crystal Dynamics, Crystal Northwest and Square Enix.
Square Enix sold Eidos-Montréal to the Embracer Group for $300 million earlier this year alongside Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix Montréal (which was swiftly rebranded ‘Onoma’ and then shuttered in October) as well as IPs including Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Thief and Legacy of Kain.
