Sabotage Studio Announces Sea Of Stars
Québec City-based indie studio Sabotage (@SabotageQc) has announced their next game Sea Of Stars, a retro-inspired, turn-based RPG set to release in 2022.
Per the Steam store description, Sea Of Stars “tells the story of two Children of the Solstice who will combine the powers of the sun and moon to perform Eclipse Magic, the only force capable of fending off the monstrous creations of the evil alchemist known as The Fleshmancer.”
This is the second game from Sabotage who released The Messenger in 2018 to much critical acclaim. Where The Messenger was an attempt to recapture the feeling of Ninja Gaiden, it appears that Sea Of Stars is an attempt to recapture the feeling of 90s turn-based RPGs- with modern touches like dynamic lighting.
Sabotage also launched a Kickstarter which hit 100% of their $133,00 CAD goal within a couple of hours. Stretch goals include a New Game + mode and a Boss Dungeon, as well as announced goals. Backing at the $35 tier or higher nets you a copy of the game, expected to launch March 2022, as well as wallpapers, an artbook, a permanent backer title on Sabotage’s Discord and your name in the backer section of the credits. The Kickstart runs until April 18, 2020.
