On July 27-29 Red Bull along with Bell Canada will be presenting one of Canada’s largest game development hackathon at AdrenaLAN in Toronto. There will be thousands of dollars of prizes to be won for the best hacks in areas like mobile games and VR/AR, along with workshops to introduce attendees to the world of game development and design.

AdrenaLAN will also include an exclusive panel on the future of hackathons and will include directors from Canada’s leading hackathons as well as companies like Google and HackerNest.  Hackathon details and more information will be released at: www.redbull.com/adrenalan

GameX 2.0 is the one day gaming event in Mississauga's Hersey's Center that will feature local games, tournaments, and a Bazaar. Admission is only $5 bucks, so check out the website, or FaceBook page for all the details, and see you June 24th.

GameX is an interactive video game event combining a video game bazaar of over 70 vendors alongside gaming tournaments and the opportunity to meet some terrific gaming personalities. This is a family-friendly event and there will be something to enjoy for gamers of all ages. Admission will be $5 per person and children aged 12 and under are free!

Friend of the site John Wang let me know about the University of Ontario's Game Development Society hosting their 8th annual Gamecon, which gives the public a chance to play the games coming out of the school. Check out the Facebook event for full details!

The eighth annual UOIT GameCon has arrived! Come join us for a day of displays where you can see all the work the UOIT Game Development students have put into their unique games. 

The event will be taking place in the UB and ERC atriums on April 3rd, 2018 from 10 am to 5 pm.

We'll also be giving out awards to the best projects too. There will be awards for the best first, second, and third year projects, as well as the best of show award. Everyone is allowed to vote for those!

We'll also be giving out additional prizes for best gameplay, best technology and best aesthetics. These three prizes will be voted on by the professors and TAs.

The monthly GameDev Drinks is set for February 21st at the The Pheasant Plucker. This month will host Don Nguyen, who is the chairperson for ConBravo and will talk about preparation for conventions.

From 7:30-10:30 p.m., GameDevDrinks is the place for you to hang out and to hear Don Nguyen speak about conventions, booth setup, and how to market your game at a convention in preparation for ConBravo. Don has been helping out ConBravo for years on top of going to other conventions marketing games like Electric Super Joy and Toronto Graffiti. Afterwards you can chat with Don, share your game concepts and ideas, tell and trade stories, show off game demos or just network and hang out because at GDD our goal is to create a casual and creative social environment for anyone - student, hobbyist, enthusiast and professional alike - who shares the common interest of game development of any kind.

Come on down to the CNIB Community Hub (1525 Yonge St, Toronto) on Saturday, February 17th to try a demo of The Vale - our all-audio medieval fantasy game that is currently in development.

From 1:30-6:00pm Falling Squirrel Inc will be giving folks a chance to play a demo of our audio game and step into the armor of a blind knight. Your testing and feedback will help us make the best game possible for the community. Anyone is welcome- tell your family, friends, and even strangers! When the lights go down, we turn it up to 11. Join us for Friday concerts and our Saturday rave. Hear amazing VGM covers and original, gaming-inspired music at our Main Stage from performers like Adriana Figuroa, Jonathan Young, and Epic Game Music. Then break out the glowsticks and facepaint, ‘cause Tiny Waves is going to drop the bass with Ben Briggs, Living Tombstone, and Yoav joining DJ Janos for our epic DanceBravo!
