The National Film Board of Canada’s Ontario Studio is currently looking to fill a variety of positions on an interactive Unity-based room-scale virtual reality project. All candidates must be available to work in-house at the NFB’s downtown Toronto studio.
Working under the guidance of the Artistic Director, the Environment Artist will be responsible for all aspects of environment creation, from 2D concepts to textured 3D models, on a Unity-based room-scale VR project.
Collaborate with the Artistic Director and Team Leads to develop environment concept art and designs using traditional and/or digital drawing tools;
Model and texture buildings, props and environment assets to be implemented into Unity;
Maintain a high level of quality and productivity while hitting deadlines and collaborating with team members on a daily basis.
A degree or diploma in 3D modeling, gaming or animation, or equivalent professional experience;
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in look development, 3D modeling and texturing environments for animation and/or video games created in Unity;
Excellent knowledge and use of 3D software as it relates to environment modeling;
A strong understanding of and experience working in and implementing 3D assets in Unity;
Strong drawing skills and an excellent understanding of architecture and organic environments;
The ideal candidate will also have strong skills in character design and modeling;
Additional skills including character rigging and animation are preferred but not necessary.
