Dragon Age: Dreadwolf Enters Alpha

Edmonton-based, EA-subsidiary BioWare (@bioware) has announced via the EA blog that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has reached its “Alpha milestone” after just entering full production in February of this year.

This seemingly condensed development cycle is reminiscent of BioWare Montréal’s infamous 18-month development timeline for Mass Effect Andromeda (2017), which resulted in the studio’s absorption into fellow EA-subsidiary Motive Montréal soon after Andromeda’s release.

EA says these blog posts are part of an effort to “continue being transparent” with the community. No gameplay or any mechanical details about Dreadwolf have been shared yet- quite a contrast with EA’s other game development updates for Skate 4, early prototype footage and grey box levels on Twitter.

BioWare Edmonton’s contracted QA support studio Keywords Edmonton became the first Canadian game developer union in the country’s history earlier this year- and we spoke to union spokesperson James Russwurm about that victory on our podcast.
