French game development studio Dontnod Entertainment (@DONTNOD_Ent), the creators of Life is Strange, Remember Me and Vampyr, has opened their first international studio in Montréal, Québec.

With over 250 developers at their Paris studio, the company plans to hire a diverse staff to create new games that reflect their diverse team.

The new studio is working on an entirely new project and Dontnod Entertainment says they’ll be hiring from Montréal’s famous talent pool. The French connection is obviously a bonus, France-based Ubisoft opened their first international studio in the province as well.

We are delighted to share our plans of expansion with the opening of this new office in Montreal, completing the talented team working out of Paris. Our goal is to create video games as close as possible to our community’s expectations. With this new international team, we will be able to envision even more ambitious titles and keep writing wonderful stories for our players.

Dontnod Entertainment announced their current project Twin Mirror at E3 last year which is being published by Bandai Namco for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and self-published for PC. They’re also working on Tell Me Why which is being published by Microsoft for Xbox One and PC.

Opened in 2008, the studio has had many ups and downs on their path to where they are now. Pitching themselves as an “independent studio that develops ‘AA’ budget video games in a wide range of genres” they’ve had critical success like Life is Strange and critical flops like Remember Me. They also gained some infamy when they switched voice actors for the Life is Strange prequel in order to use non-union talent.
