Mahou Senshi Cosplay Club Relaunches Kickstarter

Toronto-based Behold Studios (@beholdstudios) has relaunched the Kickstarter campaign for their turn-based RPG Mahou Senshi Cosplay Club, a game “about a cosplayer that gets her powers from the costumes you make.”

The first campaign closed out at $27,781 pledged of a $55,000 CAD goal. This time around the previous goal has been broken up into stretch goals, with the “Game Funded” goal reduced from $55,000 to $10,000 CAD to just finish developing the game and launch it on PC- with other features dependent on fundraising success.

There are new stretch goals and target platforms (Switch, PlayStation and Xbox), as well as a new pledge tier titled Shopkeeper where backers can become an NPC shopkeeper and “help the players through their campaigns.” They’ve also added a “T-Shirt on the Collector's pledge so it's more valuable to you.”

The game’s lead writer Kali de Los Santos played through some of the demo in a video the team uploaded to their YouTube:

Behold Studios is composed of “a diverse team of latinos, born in Brazil, with queer and anti-colonial blood in [their] veins” with their goal being “to promote that voice to the world!”

Several of the developers now call Toronto their home.
