NetEase Games Acquires BC Game Studio SkyBox Labs

Chinese IT company NetEase Games has acquired British Columbia-based game dev studio SkyBox Labs (@skyboxlabs), a full-service game development studio that’s worked on several AAA games since it was founded in 2011.

NetEase stated in a press release that SkyBox Labs “will continue to work closely with their existing co-development partners, and will be adding new partners in the future.”

SkyBox is currently co-developing Halo Infinite, working on multiple projects within the Minecraft universe and supporting the development of Fallout 76.

SkyBox Labs has studios in Burnaby and Victoria with over 200 employees as of 2021.
