Phantom Compass Releases Sunset Edition of Auto Age: Standoff as Steam Version "effectively delisted"
/Toronto and St. Catharines-based developer Phantom Compass has released a LAN-supported version of their 2017-multiplayer racer Auto Age: Standoff as the game is “effectively delisted” from Steam.
This version is essentially serving to preserve the game as it becomes unsellable in its original online-supported state on Steam. Players can pay anything they want (including nothing) for a version of the game that supports both split-screen and LAN-play.
The devs note on the itch.io page that it “will not likely be further improved or developed” and for players to “[p]lay at your own risk.”
Toronto-based designer at Spooky Squid Games Miguel Sternberg saw the move as an aspirational one- noting on Twitter that they’d “love to see more developers/publishers do [this] when their online multiplayer game hits it’s end of life.”
