Bioware Gives An Update On Anthem
/Anthem released almost a year ago on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One and it wasn’t well-received with critics, but especially with gamers. Many felt that Bioware’s latest was lacking in pretty much every department. However, Bioware announced today that they are hard at work at fixing the games loot experience, proving a better long-term progression, and an improved late-game. This, by the way, matches what Kotaku reported late last year.
So we recognize that there’s still more fundamental work to be done to bring out the full potential of the experience, and it will require a more substantial reinvention than an update or expansion. Over the coming months we will be focusing on a longer-term redesign of the experience, specifically working to reinvent the core gameplay loop with clear goals, motivating challenges and progression with meaningful rewards – while preserving the fun of flying and fighting in a vast science-fantasy setting. And to do that properly we’ll be doing something we’d like to have done more of the first time around – giving a focused team the time to test and iterate, focusing on gameplay first.
Though concrete details weren’t shared, EA does have a track record of improving games with rocking launches, most notably with Star Wars Battlefront 2.
Bioware announced what everyone kind of expected; Anthem is done, and will not be seeing any future updates. The rumored updated Anthem Next had been shown and teased a bit in the past, but nothing concrete. Anthem servers will remain online for the foreseeable future though.
