Phoenix Labs Buys out Parent Company to Become Independent

Vancouver-based game studio Phoenix Labs (@PhoenixGames), the game studio behind the hit monster-slaying game Dauntless, has regained corporate independence from its parent company after the founders took it private again, according to GamesBeat.

Originally a private venture launched in 2014, Singaporean game company Garena acquired Phoenix Labs for US$150 million on January 29, 2020.

Dauntless is Phoenix Labs’ only launched game in 9 years of operation, but the studio announced their next project Fae Farm during a Nintendo Direct in September 2022, set to release in Summer 2023 exclusively for the Switch.
