'Warframe' Now Supports Crossplay Across Consoles and PC
/London, Ontario-based Tencent subsidiary Digital Extremes (@DigitalExtremes) has announced that their almost decade-old F2P online action RPG Warframe now supports crossplay across PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch.
Announced via Warframe’s blog, players can now play with 3 other Tenno from any platform in one squad.
While there are plans to allow players to carry their save across platforms, Digital Extremes states “Cross Platform Save will be added at a later date once the full suite of Cross Platform Play features have been established.”
Warframe most recently received the Lua’s Prey update debuting the long-awaited, wolf-inspired 51st Warframe designed by Marvel Comics artist and game designer Joe Madureira (Uncanny X-Men, Darksiders).
Originally released on PC in 2013 and later that year for PlayStation 4, Warframe has since been ported to Xbox One, Series S|X, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5.
Tencent acquired Digital Extremes’ parent company Layou in 2020 making Digital Extremes a subsidiary of the Chinese media giant, which also owns Canadian studios Klei Entertainment (Vancouver) and Inflexion Games (Edmonton), as well as has a minority stake in Offworld Industries (Vancouver).
While there’s currently a known bug stopping players from entering the dojo together Digital Extremes has a workaround outline in the post.
