Runbow Pocket Release Date Announced - Also Working On New IP For Switch

It's been a while since we've heard about Runbow Pocket, but 13AM Games always let me know it's coming. Now we know what day it will be available.

In a post on Nintendo LifeAlex Rushdy, CEO and Creative Director at 13AM Games, announced that Runbow Pocket will come to June 20th in North America, and Europe for the new Nintendo 3DS, and new Nintendo 2DS. Alex even went into some of the trouble they had in porting their multiplayer Wii U game:

As part of our company culture, we don’t like keeping our fans in the dark as to why a game has been delayed or changed in some way since reveal, so I’d like to answer some of the questions that you guys might have about the game. It was a very difficult process to squeeze a large Wii U game into the New 3DS, especially when the engine it is built in is not our own. Being a pilot project for Unity New 3DS meant we had to face a cavalcade of technical difficulties, creating a new networking system, creating an e-commerce plug-in, figuring out how to maximize performance with significantly smaller CPU, GPU and memory compared to Wii U, and reorganizing all the UI and UX to work on the lower resolution dual screens.

Alex also mentioned some contests they are running on their Twitter, so check out the full Nintendo Life article for more.

We also get a tease at 13AM Games next project, which will be a single player action game on Switch that is also "weird", and distinctly "13AM". With E3 a few weeks ago, maybe we'll find out more, but for now we'll have to sit tight and wait.

Will you be picking up Runbow Pocket in June?

Vertex Pop Updates GraceFul ExplosionMachine With Highly Requested "Upload Score Later"

We were big fans of Vertex Pop's Graceful Explosion Machine when it launched on Nintendo Switch back in April. We talked about it on the podcast, and did a few Youtube videos playing it.

One of the biggest criticisms with the game was you couldn't uploaded scores if you weren't online, even at a later date. With the Switch being a very portable system, it was kind of a bummer.

Vertex Pop has changed that with Graceful Explosion Machine v1.0.2 which adds the ability to add a high score later, as well as reducing the screenshaking.

"We’ve heard from people playing GEM on trains, buses, at work, etc. who get really great high scores, but can’t upload them because they aren’t online. This breaks our collective developer hearts, so for v1.0.2 we’ve added Upload Score Later.

From the Score Screen, choose “Later” instead of “Submit Score” to save your score for uploading later. Then, when you’re back online, go to the main menu and select “Upload Scores” (by pressing X) to upload all the pending scores. (And don’t worry, if it fails to upload you can retry later!)

We also added the option to reduce or disable the Screenshake effect. If you have motion sickness related concerns, this should really help. It may not be perfect (our options are limited given what a fast-paced game GEM is), but it’s definitely an improvement!"

They also mentioned they snuck in some "smaller" fixes as well. You can check out Graceful Explosion Machine on Switch.

Embers of Mirrim From Creative Bytes Studios Out Later This Month

Announced earlier this year, Creative Bytes Studios' Embers of Mirrim will be coming out to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam May 23rd.

As you can see from the gameplay above, Embers of Mirrim is an adventure platformer, where you play as a mystical creature able to split. You can check out the PlayStation blog, where Design Director Frank Knezic went over a little bit about developing the "splitting" mechanic in the game:

Embers of Mirrim began as a simple idea. What if a player had the ability to switch back and forth between classic platforming and twin stick controls? We called this core mechanic “splitting:” you start as a traditional platforming character and then ‘split’ into two other characters, each independently controlled with the left and right analog sticks. We ran with this idea and developed it into a simple prototype room (think grey boxes and spheres) to answer some fundamental questions about “splitting:” How does the player decide when to split? What buttons do they use? How and where do the split characters re-combine? How do the split characters move? Is this actually fun?!

We'll have to wait next week to find out how deep the spliting feature goes, but we'll be sure to play it on our Youtube page.

Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry 5, The Crew 2, And South Park Coming From Ubisoft In 2017-2018

Ubisoft had their annual earnings call recently and said that the next Assassin's Creed game, Far Cry 5, The Crew 2, and South Park will be released during their next fiscal year which ends March 31, 2018.

Our friends over at Ubisoft Toronto don't have any new updates on their site, but had previously worked on Assassin's Creed with Unity, and Far Cry with the 4th installment, and Primal. We'll probably have to wait an see until E3 to see these games in action, and which (if any) is Ubisoft Toronto working on specifically.

Card Game Star Pirates Infinity From Snakehead Games Out Now

Star Pirates Infinity, the collectible card game from Hamilton based Snakehead Games. The game is available for iOS, Android, PC, and Mac. The game contains 4 factions, PVP including Guilds, and 44 story missions. You can check out the trailer below:

20-Hundred Terracades into the future, fragments of mankind settled in the distant star cluster of Terzan-7. When the rogue star, Krishna XI-32, unexpectedly went hypernova, the resulting Gamma radiation blast obliterated life on all planetary colonies in the cluster.

With the Nega-Gate destroyed in the initial blast, only those in super luminous ships were able to escape the star's fury. Limited by their meager interstellar range, the survivors of Terzan-7 were unable to return to their home galaxy.

With the radiation dissipating after the Hypernova over the course 100 earth years, the survivors began their pilgrimage into the hell-bathed systems. Inheriting the shattered remnants of a thousand worlds irradiated in a stellar inferno, four factions have arisen to rebuild the desolate systems in their own image....
