The Snowball Effect Releases On iOS And Android

Good friend of the site Aaron McLeod let me know that he's released a new game on iOS and Android, The Snowball Effect. The free-to-play game has players moving a snowball downhill, while completing objectives. This copy of the game is also version 2, and had music done by Jake Butineau.

The objective of the game is to get as far as you can, completing challenges to unlock new abilities. As you collect coins, you can also buy items to increase your chances of survival. The game is out for both iOS & Android at the free tier. It contains in app purchases of a cosmetic nature.
Snowball Effect v2 update is a complete overhaul of the existing game. To address a number of design issues I started revitilizing the overall feel of the game. Instead of being very level & objective based game, Snowball Effect is now an infinite runner, with the feel of old racing games from the NES era. You need to move to dodge obstacles, and to collide into objects that give you resources.

Snowball Effect is a game for iOS and Android. Applying the infinite runner to the old school racing game feel, Snowball Effect challenges you to make it as far down the mountain as you can. Run over targets such as skiiers and snowpiles to gain energy.

Depending on your mobile of choice, you can download the iOS version here, or the Android version here.

Shiny Talisman Releases Future Past Bundle On iOS

Toronto developer Shiny Talisman let me know they've released a bundle on the iOS store. The Future Past Bundle includes the games Warp Looter, Caveman Cliff, and Gravtav: Gravity Traveler.

ShinyTalisman
Future Past, it's all about time.  Shiny Talisman is starting out the new year with all of its great games together in one bundle, for one low price.
A mellow physics based gravity puzzle game; an intense, futuristic, space maze; and a prehistoric caveman with biceps as big as his head.  Whether jumping forward in time, or way, way back, whatever your mood, this bundle has something for you.  Play them all on your own journey through time.

Caveman Cliff and Warp Looter each offer some deep gaming where you'll upgrade your caveman or ship by collecting items.  Warp Looter presents an endless distance game experience as you narrowly escape increasingly difficult galaxies, while Caveman Cliff provides level based game play where you'll battle against the pterodactyls as you race against the clock.  Upgrading your player and your skills is key to both games as they offer increasingly intense moments that you're sure to need some help with.

Down for a more chill experience?  Gravtrav: Gravity Traveller fills that void as you travel from wormhole to wormhole in this mellow physics game.  Take advantage of the gravity created by the stars and the planets to achieve the highest scores.  Figure out how to use gravity to slingshot yourself back on course after travelling out to gather fuel.  Fill those empty minutes in your day with relaxed physics puzzling.  This bundle is all about time.

If you'd like to pick up the bundle, you can do so right here for 99 cents.. Make sure to also follow Shiny Talisman on Twitter.

Caveman Cliff Becomes A Paid App On iOS

We've spoken about Toronto developer Shiny Talisman before, who have three releases to their name: Warp Looter, Gravtrav, and Caveman Cliff.  Gravtrav was released a few weeks ago, and now Caveman Cliff, which was originally a free to play game, but has been moved to being premium app costing $2.79.

In an email to me, developer Brad Kennedy said:

"Without the paywall I was able to make some changes that really improved the game including taking down the difficulty early on to help ease the player in and getting them to the good stuff quicker, like the dino-might and whirlwinds."

Caveman Cliff. Ever want to battle pterodactyls with dinomight, whirlwinds and biceps as big as your head? Well now you can. Clear all the boulders off the cliff so that Cliff can make it his home. The pterodactyls want it too but you're quicker than they are! Another game by Shiny Talisman.

This paid version of the app includes no-ads, and no in-app purchases.

Caveman Cliff is a story about a caveman, named Cliff, who wants to live on a cliff. As levels are completed puzzle pieces will be earned. The revelation of the puzzles will guide the user through Cliff’s adventure as he struggles against the pterodactyls. New game mechanics will unlock in relation to what is happening in the story. Four gorgeously illustrated puzzles (30 levels) will need to be completed to find out how the tale ends for Cliff. Levels are completed by clearing the cliff of boulders. The pterodactyls want the cliff for themselves so they’re going to try and stop you. Things will go quicker if you pile boulders together creating boulder chains. These chains will also boost your abilities once they’ve been unlocked.

Caveman Cliff can be picked up on iOS right here, you can also follow the developer on Twitter.

Illumination Games Releases Dawn Of Mars On iOS And Android

Illumination Games, who had previous released Ace Academy: Black Flight early in the year, have released their next title: Dawn of Mars on iOS and Android.

Space Frontiers: Dawn of Mars, is the Canada Aviation and Space Museum's latest mobile app. In this strategy-based colonization game, survival depends on your ability to gather resources, expand bases, and reach new territories. As commanding officer, you must balance colony survival with mission requirements while battling hazardous and unpredictable conditions.

Join the first-ever colony on Mars. Your survival will depend on your ability to gather resources, expand your bases, and conquer new territories.
Control a fleet of rovers and extract precious resources from the Martian soil. As commanding officer, you will need to balance colony survival with mission requirements, while battling hazardous and unpredictable conditions on the Red Planet.

You can follow the gang on Twitter, and much like Ace Academy before it, the game is in partnership with the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum. The game can be download for free on iOS and Android.

Alto's Adventure, and Sword & Sworcery Part Of Apple’s “Indie Gems” Sale

Quick heads up, but a couple of Toronto games currently have some massive discounts on the iOS store with Apple throwing a "Indie Gems" Sale.

You can check out the full details here since there are lot of great games on sale, but the games Toronto gamers should be focused on are Alto's Adventure from Snowman, and Sword & Sorcery from Capybara Games.

Alto's Adventure Updated On iOS - Now Includes Haptic Feedback

Developer Snowman let me know that Alto's Adventure, the game that keeps on giving, has been updated to take advantage of iPhone 7's Haptic Feedback.

Thanks to the expanded Taptic Engine, we’ve been able to pinpoint exciting moments in a run and tie them to more precise vibrational feedback. Now, you’ll feel a nice jolt of satisfaction upon collecting a wayward llama or sliding over an ice boost. The golden burst of a super coin or powdery landing of a huge combo will hopefully be a little more thrilling.
We’ve even tried to give some consideration to calmer moments: reaching minumum & maximum zoom or snapping the perfect shot in Photo Mode will vibrate like a real camera, immersing you in the joys of being your own mountain photographer. The list goes on, but rather than spoil it all, we’re excited for players to stumble onto each new interaction and find their favourite ones.
AltoAdventure

You can pick up Alto's Adventure on iOS, if you already own the game the update is a free patch. While players enjoy the free content, we're still waiting to see more on Where Cards Fall from Snowman, and The Game Band.
