N++ Is Coming To Steam

N++, the ninja platformer from Metanet Software has announced they'll be bringing N++ over to Steam (PC, Mac, and Linux). It will have all controller support be everything that is in the PlayStation 4 version, "and more".

Number of levels? who knows! Rest assured, we’ve got some surprises planned and some new stuff that will debut on Steam (and make it’s way to the PS4 as well). You’re gonna love it. So for all of you who have been enjoying the series for years and chomping (champing?) at the bit to see this game on Steam, get in on the ground floor and start up the hype machine! And for those of you who have never heard of this game before, we’re so excited for you! Especially if you like challenging platformers, you’re in for a treat :)

N++ was originally released on PS4 last year, and was our fan voted Game of the Year for 2015.  While no release date is known right now, you can check out the Steam page to add it to your Wishlist and stay up to date.

Make sure to follow the developer on Twitter, and make sure to sue the hashtag #NPlusPlus. We'll have more on the game when Metanet is ready to share.

Finish Line Games Bringing Cel Damage HD To Xbox One

Toronto Indie developer Finish Line Games has announced they'll be bringing their HD rerelease of Cel Damage to Xbox One. The game is currently on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita.

Fourteen years after the crazed cartoon car combat extravaganza blazed a trail of mayhem across the Microsoft Xbox, Finish Line Games is proud to announce that Cel Damage HD is heading to the Xbox One!

New Screenshots For FutureGrind

Indie developer Milkbag Games released a couple more screenshots for their skate-like game FutureGrind, and I wanted to share them.  Owen took to the company's Tumblr to show them off:

In December we took FutureGrind to PlayStation Experience in San Francisco. We showed a whole new environment of the game in our demo, and we spent a lot of time polishing the visuals of the game. These are some screenshots I took from that build of the game showing the latest.

The game is looking really slick, and you can follow the developer on Twitter, and Tumblr.  Not release date yet for FutureGrind, but we'll be sure to have it for you when we find out.

Vertex Pop Releasing We Are Doomed To PlayStation Vita Next Month

Indie developer Vertex Pop announced that their twin-stick shooter We Are Doomed will be releasing on PlayStation Vita on February 9th.  The game was previously released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam last year.  The game is also cross-buy with the PS4 version, so if you already own that one, then you own the Vita version.

Above all, We Are Doomed is a skill based game. There is no levelling and no upgrades, just your skills improving over time. If you want to get better, you need to get better! And that takes practice. So it’s a good thing you’ll have your PS Vita on you all the time, eh?

You can check out the full details and tips for playing over at the PlayStation blog, and make sure to follow the developer on Twitter. Let us know in the comments if you plan on picking up We Are Doomed.

Game of the Year - Fan Vote Results!

So for the last few weeks we have been doing a Game of the Year voting, and the results are in!  The Game of the Year voting resulted in the highest traffic for the site since it's creation, and I've posted the top five games below. Here are the official top Toronto developed games of 2015, as voted by you!

Number 5: Super Time Force Ultra (PS4/Vita)

The game was originally released in 2014, but a rerelease back in September on PlayStation resulted in getting the number 5 spot on our poll.  If you haven't already, make sure to check out this game on the large list of platforms its avaliable.  Be on the lookout for Below from the studio in 2016.

Number 4: Runbow (WiiU)

The 9 player party platformer was one on of the first games I ever wrote about, and was also one of the first I got to play before it came out. The game oozes with charm, and style, while boasting a lot of other indie characters.  Stay tuned to 13AM Games who are busy working away on DLC for the game.  The game is also on sale until January 14th.

Number 3: Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes (PC)

To be quiet honest, I didn't know this game was developed over in Ottawa.  Someone had put it in as a write-in and so I had to add it (the list was updated through out the week with other write-ins).  This multiplayer puzzle game pits one person in a room, with other players outside who have instructions for the specific part of the bomb to defuse.  You can pick it up on Steam right now, but make sure to check out the developers on Twitter.

Number 2: Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime (Xbox One, PC)

Our runner up for this year was one that I recently started playing, and I can see why it made so many people's lists.  The game is great single player, but shines with a friend to play with.  The game is currently on sale on Steam, but you can also get the Xbox One edition as well.

Number 1: N++ (PS4)

Woot! A big congratulations to Metanet Software for winning this years Game of the Year voting on TorontoGameDevs.com.  N++, the ninja platformer that is easy to learn and difficult to master, will make you die over and over again, and apparently that's what people love about it.  While the developer is busy working on a PC version, make sure to pick up the PS4 version here.

Thank you to everyone who voted. As I mentioned, this resulted in the highest amount of traffic in the history of the site. Make sure to listen to our podcast, and follow us on Twitter. On to 2016!

Necrophone Games Brings Jazzpunk To PlayStation 4

Toronto developer Necrophone Games took to the PlayStation blog to announced their Cold War era cyberpunk adventure game, Jazzpunk, will be making its way to PlayStation 4.

Jazzpunk is largely an exploration/adventure game, but with a heavy focus on absurdist and surreal humor and a sleek mid-century modern aesthetic. We spent a lot of time creating a lush 1960’s world, then tried to stuff it like a pizza crust with as much joke-cheese as possible. I’ve been told the results are gooey and delicious.

You can check out the full story for the game over at the PlayStation Blog, including the development of the game, and the new multiplayer mode for the PlayStation 4 version.  A big shout out to Twitter follower OmlagusGarfungiloops for giving me the heads up

Benjamin Rivers Answers Questions About Alone With You

Indie developer Benjamin Rivers recently took to the PlayStation Blog to announce Alone With You's release date.  He then returned to do a little Q&A for his upcoming adventure story game.

Is this just a point-and-click adventure?
I actually get asked this quite a lot — Alone With You is definitely an adventure game, but not a 90’s-style one. It’s designed for controllers in mind, where moving around the environment feels fluid and fun. There are no complicated menus or inventory screens to manage (just like Home, which was also designed with minimalism in mind).
So then how does the gameplay work?
You accept missions from your AI companion, and as you reach your mission area, you explore — you don’t have a complex HUD, markers or anything getting in your way. If you stumble across something you can use, take or scan, the game prompts you. Unlike a lot of adventure games, you feel like you’re moving through a world, instead of pushing a cursor around.

You can check out the full Q&A on the PlayStation Blog. If you're going to be at the PlayStation Experience event, then make sure to check Ben out at Booth 1158, as well as other Toronto developers.

Far Cry Primal Trailer Shown At The Game Awards

Having been announced a few months ago, Far Cry Primal was featured last night at The Game Awards 2015.  Far Cry Primal is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal, with some help from Ubisoft Toronto.  You can check out the full trailer below:

The world premiere of Far Cry Primal from the 2015 Game Awards. For more videos, news, previews and reviews, go to http://kotaku.com

Far Cry Primal takes you way, way back. Back to a time when man was an insignificant blip on nature’s radar and beasts were larger (and meaner) than those we know today. Back to a time when the simple ability to make a fire meant the difference between life and death. Back to the Stone Age. And today, during The Game Awards, Ubisoft announced the special Far Cry Primal Deluxe Edition, packed with bonus goodies and additional content.

You can check out the full details of the Deluxe Edition on Ubisoft's blog.  Far Cry Primal will be out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on February 23rd, 2016.
