VENTURE INTO THE UNDERWORLD IN ASSASSIN’S CREED® ODYSSEY THE FATE OF ATLANTIS, EPISODE 2, NOW AVAILABLE

Montreal — June 4, 2019 —Today, Ubisoft announced that Torment of Hades, the second episode of the post-launch story arc of Assassin’s Creed® Odyssey The Fate of Atlantis, is now available on the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including Xbox One X and Windows PC.

Torment of Hades transports players to the Underworld, a vast world of endless gloom filled with wandering dead, ruled by the sharp and cunning Hades. As the story unfolds, players will come face-to-face with the ghosts of their past and continue their journey in mastering the Staff of Hermes. In order to escape the afterlife, players will have to help the dead find their rightful resting place and settle the debt that Hades demands.

Each of the episodes of The Fate of Atlantis will introduce new ability enhancements related to the different branches of the skill tree – Hunter, Warrior and Assassin. In this second episode, players will discover three new ability enhancements, including:

  • Kronos Time Shift is part of the Warrior branch of the skill tree, and will launch players into the air while temporarily blinding surrounding enemies. While you are in the air, time stops for a moment, letting you use abilities from above or in a chain with Leap of Faith’s ground smash. When you shoot in the air, the damage will also automatically crit targets.

  • Ares Last Breath is also part of the Warrior branch of the skill tree. This healing ability will grant immunity to enemy attacks, restore 5% of damage dealt as Health and automatically parry enemy melee hits.

  • Artemis Trickery is part of the Hunter branch of the skill tree, and will transform players’ arrows into deadly traps that detonate and deal damage to enemies that come in close proximity. Any type of arrow can be used and will offer a different type of effect on detonation.

In order to play Torment of Hades, players will have two different options:

  • Following the main game, players will have to complete the questline Between Two Worlds, the mythological main game story arc, and the Lost Tales of Greece questline Heir of Memories that is available after completing the former questline. Finally, they must have reached character level 28 or above.

  • Players who do not fulfill all the above conditions will be able to use a shortcut created specifically for them. Thanks to this shortcut, players will enter Greece level 52 with preset abilities and resources, enabling them to start their adventure into the afterlife with Heir of Memories. They will also have the opportunity to choose their hero. However, contrary to the previous option, player progression using the shortcut will not carry over to the main game save, and they will not be able to obtain achievements.

The Assassin’s Creed Odyssey post-launch plan is the biggest and most ambitious in the franchise, and season pass owners will be able to access two major episodic storylines, Legacy of the First Blade and The Fate of Atlantis. Players can dive into new episodes as they premiere or experience the epic adventures in their entirety once all episodes are available. The season pass also includes Assassin’s Creed® III Remastered and Assassin’s Creed® III Liberation Remastered, which released for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including Xbox One X and Windows PC on March 29, 2019.

The Fate of Atlantis can be purchased as part of the Assassin’s Creed® Odyssey Season Pass for $49.99 or as part of The Fate of Atlantis story arc for $34.99 and will be downloadable for players who already own the Season Pass or Gold Edition starting today.

Road to E3 2019 - Marvel's Avengers Will Make Its Debut

One of the most anticipated game at this year’s E3 will no doubt be Marvel’s Avengers from Edios Montreal and Crystal Dynamics. The game was actually announced a little while ago, but very little has been shown. Square Enix announced a few days ago that we will get our first glimpse of the game at this year’s E3.

Since this, a few things have gone out like IGN reporting that the game will have “continuous” single-player, and co-operative gameplay. We’ll have to wait a little while longer to get the full look though and see what that means, and we’ll be sure to post it here on CanadianGamedevs.com

Cuphead Being Ported To....Tesla Cars

Well if you have a PlayStation 4 then you can’t play Studio MDHR’s hit Cuphead - however if you have an Xbox One, PC, Switch and now…a Tesla car, then you can. Announced by Tesla CEO Elon Musk on their weekly podcast, and posted by IGN - the gang at Tesla has gotten Cuphead working on their cars and will be available on Tesla's Model 3, Model S, and Model X by the end of the year.

“"Cuphead, we've got working," Musk said. "[The developers] have been helping us make it work. It's a cool game. It's insanely difficult. It's sadistically difficult. It's a twisted plot. It's dark. It looks like some cute little Disney thing and you're like, 'This plot is very dark'," he added with a laugh.”

Cuphead came out in 2017 and was a smash hit. DLC titled “The Delicious Last Course” was announced at last year’s E3 and we’re hoping to hear about it more…perhaps at this years E3.

In Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course, Cuphead and Mugman are joined by Ms. Chalice for a DLC add-on adventure on a brand new island! With new weapons, new charms, and Ms. Chalice's brand new abilities, take on a new cast of multi-faceted, screen-filling bosses to assist Chef Saltbaker in Cuphead's final challenging quest.

Voxel Couch-Coop Dungeon Crawler Riverbond Coming Out This Summer

Shown off at today’s Playstation State of Play, Cococucumber announced their couch-coop voxel dungeon crawler will be coming to PlayStation 4 this Summer. They then followed up saying it’ll also be out on Xbox One and PC. You can wishlist the game here on Steam.

In true dungeon-crawling style, Riverbond takes you on a journey through memorable worlds where you battle monsters, find treasure and become the hero. We wanted to channel the nostalgia of playing games from the 16-bit era and infuse it with fast and fluid controls for maximum action! Riverbond lets you choose your play style by letting you select from a ton of melee or ranged weapons to fight waves of enemies, take down huge bosses or completely decimate everything in sight.

It was also announced that there will be plenty of skins from other games added to the game, including Drinkbox Studios own Juan from Guacamelee, Lover Mu from Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, and Robot 5 from Cococumber’s previous game Planet of the Eyes.

Ubisoft To Stop Selling Physical Toys For Starlink Battle for Atlas - Promises New Digital Content

Starlink Battle for Atlas came out last year for Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC and it looks like sales of the physical toys that connect with the game hasn’t been doing that well. Ubisoft announced on the official blog that sales for the space adventure game haven’t met their exceptions (something we’ve discussed on the podcast a lot) and that physical toys will no longer be produced.

It’s not all bad news however, as there will be new ships, weapons, pilots to collect - they will just be digital. You can check out the full post below.

Pilots of the Starlink Initiative,

Thank you so much for the warm response to the new Starlink content announced during the February Nintendo Direct.

With the announcement of new content arriving this April, we felt that it is important to provide an update on the topic of physical toys. Starlink: Battle for Atlas has been a passion project for us from the start, and we are incredibly proud of the modular Starship technology we have developed, and how well players have responded to it.

Despite the immense and continuous support from our players, the sales for Starlink: Battle for Atlas fell below expectations. Consequently, we recently made the decision to not release any additional physical toys for the Spring update and in the future.

As part of our effort to do right by our passionate and dedicated community we are currently hard at work on our biggest update to the game so far and are pleased to tell all of you that there will be new digital ships, pilots and weapons to collect.

Additionally, there will be a ton of free content to expand your games such as additional missions, challenges and new activities to engage in throughout Atlas, including content that was inspired by community suggestions, such as Outlaw Racing.

We're very grateful for the support we have received from players around the world and can't wait for everyone to get their hands on our next big update launching this April.

We'll see you in the stars,

Starlink Development Team

Way of the Passive Fist Coming To Nintendo Switch

Toronto developer Household Games is joining the Switch-port crew and releasing their 90’s brawler inspired Way of the Passive Fist to Nintendo Switch on April 11th. It looks like the game is listed at $18.99 CAD on the Nintendo eshop.

If you can’t wait until April 11th, you can pick up the game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC where it launched this time last year. Check out the trailer and press release below.

Reverse Brawler Way Of The Passive Fist Comes to Nintendo Switch on April 11

Toronto, ON. March 28, 2019. Indie devs Household Games announced today that the genre-bending defensive brawler Way of the Passive Fist is coming to Nintendo Switch. At a glance the game is full of 90's beat-em-up aesthetics with sprites that dwarf Battletoads or Final Fight, but a closer look reveals the game's clever twist: the player parries, dodges, and reverses attacks to stay alive in a post-apocalyptic wasteland where exhaustion equals death.

Instead of punching and kicking through hordes of nameless thugs, watch for openings, time your parries, and shoot for that high score. The game's addictive stage-by-stage gameplay is perfect for the pickup and play nature of the console, and brings all its pixel art glory in handheld or docked mode. The bombastic, pulse-pounding soundtrack is the icing on the sand-and-sweat covered cake, and if the feeling of knocking back waves of enemies on top of a speeding train to a wailing electric guitar doesn't scream "arcade experience," we don't know what does.

With a fully customizable difficulty setting (no easy, medium, or hard here!), and a refreshing take on classic beat-em-up gameplay, Way of the Passive Fist is a brand new experience for action-loving Nintendo Switch players.

Features

- Customizable difficulty setting lets players decide how many enemies appear at a time, how hard they hit, how forgiving the combo counter is, and even how many checkpoints there are.

- Contains all the content from Way of The Passive Fist's NEW DAWN Edition, including a brand new training mode to let you practice and perfect your parries.

- Procedural roguelite survival mode "Passiverse" challenges the most calm masters to stay alive amidst an unpredictable set of challenges.

- Hours of content with Story, New Dawn Epilogue, and Passiverse, plus new difficulty settings that dictate new ways to play. Try for a playthrough of super-difficult enemies or minimal checkpoints.

About Household Games Inc.

Founded in 2016 by Jason Canam and based in Toronto, Canada, Household Games is an independent studio focused on creating high-quality and stylized original IP content for consoles and PC. The small team made up of DrinkBox Studios, Queasy Games, and Silicon Knights alumni are combining forces, and their passions, to develop video games that are fun and accessible for all ages and ability levels. Household Games launched their debut title, Way of the Passive Fist, in early March 2018.
