Toronto GameDev: Shiny Talisman

Every now and then I do like to highlight a local developer, and let readers know what kind of games are being work on in the GTA, even if there isn't a specific "news" thing to announce.  But I invite everyone to check out Shiny Talisman, creators of Caveman Cliff and Warp Looter, both free downloads on iOS.  I've included the trailers for both games below.

Emergent Fates Gets A New Preview Video

Upcoming iOS RPG Emergent Fates, which is being worked on by a few people in Toronto, had a preview video release which I've posted below.  You can check out all the details on Emergent Fates at the official website here, which looks to be a fun RPG that promises to "emphasizes the elements from which its genre first was born".

A young student graduates into his homeland's Knight's Academy and is suddenly privy to political issues in unexpected ways... An enigmatic woman travels the world hunting powerful spectral beings for reasons known only to herself.... A scientist with few scruples examines the coexistence of parallel dimensions and their lifeforms...
One story is only a compilation of many. Through the eyes of a few people, uncover the grander underlying stories of an entire world.

Emergent Fates is a story-based fantasy RPG with 2D watercolour animation, a surreal story of spectres, knights and deceit, and a turn-based battle system. NOTE: The game is still being actively worked on and much of what is displayed in the video will be updated before release.

We'll be sure to have more on the game as it becomes available, but in the meantime you can always follow them on Twitter.

Alto's Adventure Out Now On Android

Developer Snowman had announced earlier this month Alto's Adventure was releasing on Android, and that day has come!  You can download the game for free on the Google Store here, or on the iOS right here.  The game is free on Android, while costing $3.99 on iOs, and the developer spoke about why:

After playing games such as Crossy Road and Threes! Free we began to understand that free-to-play can be done in a very tasteful and respectful manner. We also heard about the crazy levels of piracy on Android (thanks in part to Ustwo Games’ incredibly insightful Monument Valley infographic), and wanted to ensure that Alto’s Adventure could be as accessible as possible for everyone, while still being good for business.

Alto's Adventure is now available for Android and Kindle Fire devices (and iOS). Indie developer Button Mash Games has officially released Forbidden Desert on iOS. The game, which is originally a board game, has players working together to survive:

Alto's Adventure Releases For Android February 11th

Developer Snowman announced today that Alto's Adventure, the infinite skier already on iOS, will be heading to Android on February 11th.  Most interestingly is that the game, which is available on the iOS right now for $2.99, will be made free on Android.

So, after careful consideration, we decided to take the plunge and launch Alto’s Adventure for free, adding a variety of opt-in bonuses for players who might need a little extra help, or otherwise want to show their support. The most important thing to say is that we’ve kept the core gameplay experience intact – it can be enjoyed start to finish, exactly as it can be on iOS.

Alto's Adventure is launching on Android and Kindle Fire devices on Thursday, February 11th, 2016. http://altosadventure.com http://www.twitter.com/altosadventure http://www.facebook.com/altosadventure

If you need some more Alto's Adventure reading before February 11th, make sure to check out this interview over at The Verge which dives into the game a bit more. Give them a follow on Twitter, and then we'll see you on the slopes February 11th!
