Is Clapfoot Games Working On An Updated For Fortified?

Happy Saturday! Clapfoot Games released Fortified earlier this year, but since then we haven't heard much from them.  Based on a recent tweet, it might be safe to say they are working on some DLC for the third person tower defence shooter.

We'll be sure to share more about Fortified as Clapfoot Games updates us, but until then make sure to check out the game on Xbox One or Steam.

OSnap Games Launches Kickstarter For Quasar

OSnap Games is busy away work on their shoot 'em up Quasar for Steam, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and have taken to Kickstarter to help them with the final push.  The goal is $25000, with 35 days to go, I think we can get this one fully funded.

"Inspired by great shoot ‘em ups of the past such as Asteroids and Space Wars, we’ve set out to make QUASAR a bullet-tastic, top-down multiplayer game for our generation. The mechanics are simple, but the action takes place in procedurally generated areas for a unique and frenetic play experience that tests your skills every time. The game can be played with up to 10 players (5 vs. 5), and we like to say it is easy to learn, fast to play and hard to master."

You can check out the Kickstarter right here, and follow the developer on Twitter as well.  I've had a chance to play to play Quasar and it's a long of fun.  The Kickstarter has all sorts of details on the gameplay, and sound track with the estimate delivery date on it being September 2016, so hopefully we don't have to long of a wait.

Blue Isles Entertainment Announces First-Person Adventure Valley

Blue Isles Entertainment, the Toronto developed responsible for Slender: The Arrival have announced that Valley, their first-person adventure game will be coming to Steam, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 this summer.

"Valley™ is a First-Person adventure unlike any other. Hidden deep within a remote region of the Rocky Mountains, you find yourself bewildered within a secluded valley. With the power of a recently discovered L.E.A.F. suit (Leap Effortlessly though Air Functionality), run and jump your way through beautiful forests, dangerous ruins and vast environments; all the while utilizing the power to control life and death to uncover the startling secrets of the mysterious valley. Be forewarned, with these new-found abilities comes a daunting repercussion: the more you experience death within the valley, the more the valley will die around you."

Coming summer 2016 - www.valleythegame.com Explore the vast and beautiful world of Valley™ using the power of the L.E.A.F. SUIT: a fierce exoskeleton that grants exceptional speed and agility along with the phenomenal ability to manipulate the life and death of all living things.

The trailer comes off as pretty atmospheric, and creepy, which isn't surprising for anyone who has played Slender. We'll be sure to have more on this game as we get closer to its summer 2016 release date, but you can check out the Steam page here, while following the developer on Twitter.

Far Cry Primal Gets A Free "Survivor" Mode

Ubisoft has announced that their prehistoric first person shooter Far Cry Primal will be getting a free update, which includes a new difficulty "Survivor Mode".  This new difficulty will include permadeath (optional), less humans and animals to hunt, the minimap turned off, a stamina gauge, and more. You can check out the announcement trailer below:

The Stone Age is about to get even more brutal. Far Cry Primal will receive a FREE "Survivor Mode" update on April 12 for consoles and PC, which will make Oros and its inhabitants harsher and more dangerous than ever. You'll also have the option of enabling permadeath, if you're willing to risk extinction.

“The idea of doing this mode actually started from the team, saying they wanted to create this mode based on feedback they got from the community,” says Thomas Simon, Far Cry Primal’s game director. “The keystone of that survival mode is the change in the exploration, crafting, and difficulty of the game to make it even more realistic. After that, there are options the player can activate to go further.”

Far Cry Primal was released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC earlier this year, and I quite enjoyed it.  The new update will be available April 12th for all platforms.

New World Interactive Announces Insurgency: Sandstorm

New World Interactive, a developer with roots in Hamilton, but other parts of the world, have announced Insurgency: Sandstorm coming in 2017 to PS4, Xbox One, Windows, OS X, and Linux.  They made the announcement last month, partnering with publisher Focus Home Interactive.

“Considering our indie background, it was not easy finding a publisher we felt compatible with. We decided to work with Focus because they understand our game and they believe in our vision.” Jeremy Blum – Founder and Game Director of New World Interactive The decision to collaborate with a publisher is primarily for their expertise in console distribution and broader marketing reach. New World Interactive retains full ownership of the Insurgency brand and creative direction on the project.

Insurgency: Sandstorm will also have a story mode, as well as an eSports framework. "The game is being built from the ground up with competitive multiplayer, console split-screen, and singleplayer in mind. The story mode will focus on a squad of characters as they face increasingly challenging chapters, from the invasion of Iraq in 2003 through the insurrection period and leading to the present day."

You can check out the full story over on the official website, and follow the developer on Twitter.  There is also GameDev Drinks happening this month where you'll get the chance to meet Creative Director Andrew Spearin.

What Was Ubisoft Toronto's Contribution To Far Cry Primal? Now We Know!

I've wondered for a while what specifically Ubisoft Toronto did for Far Cry Primal.  The first person shooter was released last week, and as I mentioned on the podcast I've been enjoying it quite a bit. Thanks to the Toronto Star, we now know what our favourite Ubisoft studio contributed to the game:

"You have to hunt animals, craft together tools and find your fellow tribesman, and thanks to the addition of Beast Master abilities, you don't have to do it alone.
"The Montreal team . . . gave us a lot of stuff that was related to the Beast Master powers, so the taming, giving (your animal) orders and creating the many great beast quests later on in the game were led by the team here," said Maxime Beland, creative director, Ubisoft Toronto.
The Toronto team also worked on your pet owl, another new feature that almost operates as a prehistoric drone. You can call your owl and see from its perspective, which lets you survey the surrounding area, mark targets and eventually, with upgrades, attack enemies for you."

You can check out the full story over on the Toronto Star website.  A big congrats again to the team over at Ubisoft Toronto. My review for the game will be up sometime this week.
